A Native of Tunisia
A native of Tunis, Tunisia, Dhafer Bouzid has collaborated with Tunisian artisans to bring their unique products to a worldwide market. Lara Bouzid, a native of California, is an artist. Her handmade crafts and artwork are reflective of the her life in California and experiences in Tunisia and Italy. We are based in the New World Mediterranean of California.
The Berbers are the native people of North Africa. After thousands of years of invasion, conquest and colonization the Berber people retain their cultural identity. While desert dwellers (think of Tataouine and the original setting of Star Wars) their customs and artistry have been woven into modern day Tunisia.
Tunisia is located on the northernmost point of the African continent. Bordered by the Sahara to the south and the Mediterranean Sea to the north.
Tunisia's rich cultural history has been influenced by the Phoenician, Carthaginian, Roman, Arab, Turkish Ottoman, and French.
